Social gaming industry is heading for a massive consolidation with the likes of Google, Disney are intensifying their shopping spree in the fast-growing space.
Social games are free to play and generate revenue by charging users to buy virtual goods. Those games are tied with social networking platforms, which are presently being ruled by Facebook and Twitter.
2010 will be remembered as the year that games on social networks became a billion dollar business and transformed the way millions more people socialized with friends online.
In India we have likes of ibibo and zapak.
ibibo is a great deal for social gaming they have there own gaming application which need to install for playing games like pool, snooker, chess, some are playable on website itself. They organize different kinds of competition also, which are great for the gamers to earn while having fun.
Realizing the potential of the current boom in social gaming on social networking websites like Facebook, Zapak,India’s largest online gaming portal, has decided to plunge into the trend too.
A new Zapak Games Application is available for users to add and play games on Facebook. Currently, Zapak has added about 33 casual games to the Facebook App and the number is gradually expected to rise in the following weeks. The games span a variety of genres like arcade, sports, strategy, racing etc. While social gaming, where multiple individuals play against each other, is available on the Internet, it’s not a hit on mobiles due to slow speed of the network. But telecom operators are now excited as 3G is set to change the rules of the game and ring in more moolah.
Leading video game developers such as Hungama , Ibibo , Indiagames , Nazara and JumpGames are gearing up to develop next generation of mobile games, which will test your skills against multiple players. And all this would be possible with the advent of 3G.
Ibibo, which plans to make all its online games available on the mobile phones, has tied up with Aircel to offer its online game—The Great Indian Parking Wars.
The mobile gaming arm of the Reliance ADA Group, JumpGames, is also betting big. During the recently-concluded FIFA World Cup, the company released two soccer games, which was compatible across platforms like Symbian and Google's Android. It’s also developing similar games for the iPhone platform.
